Carleton Sheets Real Estate![]() Carleton Sheets is a real estate guru who has appeared on latenight TV infomercials over the past few years. The product he promotes is information on how to strike it rich in the real estate business. The informercials claim you will find out how to buy homes for little or no money down, then rent them out for high profits. This appears to be a very sound business plan, as there will always be a demand for housing rentals. But there is more to it than that, and the information included in the course may not be all you need to know. These infomercials are promoting a course that consists of books, tapes and videos on how to get started in the real estate business. The cost of this information isn't very high, but there is a catch. Much like other home business opportunities advertised on TV infomercials, it would seem the real product is only mentioned after you've already spent some money. Once you've ordered the information offered, you are sure to receive phone calls from the company (Professional Education Institute) trying to sign you up for an expensive seminar. These costly seminars will apparently give you the valuable information that was left out in the course. As you probably guessed, this is where the company makes the real money. However, there is still some good information in the course for individuals with no experience in real estate investing. The question is, do you really want to jump into a business like this without having a good background education first? Making Money Renting out HousesIt's a fact that real estate is one of the biggest businesses out there. Many have made large fortunes investing in houses and renting them out. However, it is also true that many individuals have lost a considerable amount of time and money in this same business. Why do you some become rich while so many others fail? Like many other businesses, there are several factors involved. Individuals with a good background in real estate and access to large amounts of money are more likely to succeed than someone without, but there seems to be a simpler explanation here. Quite simply, many people jump into this without giving it much thought. This is a serious problem, because renting out houses is not a source of easy money, and there are many factors that can lead to disaster for the unprepared entrepreneur. The basic idea of buying a home for little money down and renting them out to pay for itself is sound, but the other factors mentioned can make the whole business more trouble than it's worth. The biggest of these is unexpected expenses associated with owning a rental property. Some of these expenses include property taxes and repairs. If you don't have the experience to do repairs yourself when something breaks (and this will happen often) the expense of hiring someone else to do it can quickly get out of control. As well, finding reliable tenants can be a difficult task, and certain housing laws can put you in serious trouble if you do end up with a bad tenant. There are many complicated issues like this to consider, and countless books have been writen on the subject. If you are considering renting out, it is not something to be taken lightly. What the Course OffersFrom the infomericals, you'll hear that the course will teach you how to buy homes for the lowest price and least amount of money down possible. That is really the selling pitch of the course. Being able to find a house to buy with no money down is appealing to individuals with no cash, but this kind of situation rarely comes up. Many different financing options tactics are covered, but some are outdated. Other sections do not go into great detail about certain methods proposed. Considering this course is just a setup to sell customers on the expensive seminars, this is not surprising. Feedback from buyers of the course is mixed. Some will swear by it, claiming to have made a small fortune with the methods taught, while others will claim the course offers nothing useful. If you are thinking about having a look for yourself, you might want to consider heading over to Ebay and checking out the various auctions reselling the course. Getting your hands on the course that way will prevent telemarketers, and save you some money. Below are some more links about the course offered by Carleton Sheets.
